Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Back to School Backpack Drive, benefiting students at Hyde Park Middle School. With the gracious help of everyone, we were able to reach our goal of 40 stuffed backpacks with all the essential school supplies students will need.
Last year Hyde Park had approximately 40 title 1 (homeless students) who attended their school last year. The backpacks donated will be for those Title 1 students.
We would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Black & LoBello, Dave Hall, CPA, Robin Slipock of The Calida Group (Summerlin), and Rhonda Berlino at Fidelity National Title for their generous donations. Also we would like to thank Stacy Shavinksy-Haynes, the 8th grade counselor at Hyde Park Middle School The Academy of Math and Science who has been a great help throughout the drive.
Hyde Park Middle School
The Hyde Park Academy of Science and Mathematics offers a specialized academic program for academically talented and high-achieving students in a diverse setting. The program serves students who require an academically demanding and challenging curriculum in the four core content areas: mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. Hyde Park also serves as a Title 1 school. Title I is the federal education law that provides funding to elementary and secondary schools for programs and services to help economically disadvantaged students to succeed. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to reach State learning standards. Title I is intended to help close the gap in academic achievement between students in different ethnic and income groups.
