On July 29, 2011, the Nevada Supreme Court issued an order scheduling a public hearing on a pending petition, filed by Supreme Court Justice Mark Gibbons, to amend the rules which allow audiovisual participation in the Nevada courts. This proposed rule would allow witnesses and other participants to appear at trials through audio-visual links, rather than in person. The new rules will improve access to the courts and reduce litigation costs by permitting parties, whenever possible, to appear by telephone or video conferencing.
